Introduction

Your ID Austria (electronic identity) is your key to secure digital services such as FinanzOnline, USP, and other digital official channels.

The ID certificate is from the day of registration Valid for 5 years. Many users will see this expire in the coming months and will need to renew it online before expiry (for a further 5 years validity) or renew it in person at a Registry Office to be renewed.

The Certificate data (type, validity period etc.) can be found in the „Digital Office“ app or at A-Trust Check.

Here's how to get your ID Austria:

  • If you have a mobile signature:

To start the migration, log in to oesterreich.gv.at or link your mobile signature App „ID Austria“. You will be automatically guided through the necessary steps there. If your mobile signature has been officially registered, it can be ID Austria with full functionality unless upgraded, it is only possible to switch to the ID Austria with basic functions.

  • If you already have an ID Austria with basic functionality, which

– was officially registered:

Log in oesterreich.gv.at and follow the instructions for upgrading to full functionality, keeping the ID number of your valid Austrian passport or identity card to hand.

– has not been officially registered (or does not have a valid Austrian passport/ID card):

Are you looking for a Registry Office for identity verification. There you will log in to the App „ID Austria“ and you will receive a TAN from the authority's employee in your app. Complete the switch directly in the app with a few clicks. Your ID Austria will then be immediately ready for use.
